Job Description:
As a LabVIEW Programmer, you will design, develop, and maintain software solutions for real-time data acquisition and control systems using National Instruments’ LabVIEW programming environment. Your work will focus on integrating instrumentation hardware with custom software solutions for testing, data collection, and control applications in geotechnical engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain LabVIEW-based software applications for data acquisition, control, and instrumentation systems.

  • Design closed-loop control systems for automated testing and real-time data feedback.

  • Integrate various sensors (e.g., load cells, accelerometers, strain gauges) and instrumentation devices into test setups.

  • Write and debug LabVIEW code for real-time monitoring and control of geotechnical experiments and equipment.

  • Interface with data acquisition hardware, including National Instruments (NI) equipment and other third-party devices.

  • Collaborate with geotechnical engineers to design custom solutions that meet specific project requirements.

  • Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, and calibration of hardware and software to ensure accuracy and reliability.

  • Document software development processes, testing procedures, and results.

  • Provide technical support to field teams and assist in troubleshooting hardware-software integration issues.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in LabVIEW, instrumentation technologies, and control systems.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • 2+ years of experience with LabVIEW programming, including experience with data acquisition and control systems.

  • Strong understanding of instrumentation and sensor integration, including analog and digital signal processing.

  • Experience in designing and implementing closed-loop control systems using LabVIEW.

  • Familiarity with National Instruments hardware (e.g., DAQ, CompactRIO, PXI) and communication protocols (e.g., RS-232, GPIB, Modbus, etc.).

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with engineering teams.

  • Certification in LabVIEW (CLAD or higher) is a plus.

  • Experience in the geotechnical or construction industry is a plus but not required.
